Lynne Edward Weston (95) went to be with his Savior on February 27, 2020. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce, of 54 years and his second wife, Georgie, of 10 years; his parents Cutler and Mabel Weston; sister, Beulah; brothers Raymond, Dean, and Keith; brothers-in-law Jerry Kochka, Jim Brink, and Glen Gustafson; and sister-in-law, Rosemary Gustafson.
Lynne was born and raised in Lamont, Iowa. During WWII, he enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Drew as a medical corpsman. In 1946, he attended Moody Bible Institute where he met and married Joyce Brink. He continued his schooling at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, studying to become a medical technician. He finished his studies at Butterworth Hospital (now Spectrum Health) in Grand Rapids, and then worked in a small hospital lab briefly in Stanwood before moving to Little Traverse Hospital (now Northern Michigan Hospital) in Petoskey in 1957. He enjoyed working in the lab there for over 30 years, many of them as head of the blood bank. Lynne retired in 1989 and he and Joyce moved to St. Helen, Michigan. After Joyce’s death in 2003, Lynne met and married Georgina Latter. Georgie passed away in 2014.
Lynne loved studying and preaching about his precious Lord. He spoke in many small churches in Northern Michigan and gave the devotionals at the monthly men’s breakfast at his church in West Branch. Lynne was known in St. Helen as the tree man. He would help neighbors and friends by cutting trees and selling wood even at the age of 90.
