Marian Marie Thompson

THOMPSON-Marian Buskirk Thompson of Byron Center formerly of Sarasota, FL - 97 years old. Marian was born January 13, 1913 in Allegan County and passed away October 4, 2010 in Byron Center, MI. She graduated from South High School, Grand Rapids MI, 1930. Marian worked off and on for Michigan Bell Telephone Company in Grand Rapids and Detroit from 1930 until she retired in 1968. Marian and her husband Roger moved to Sarasota in 1970. In 1989, she moved into Bay Village until the family moved her to Meadow Place at Byron Manor in Byron Center, MI in 2005. While in Sarasota, Marian was an avid golfer. She also volunteered for many organizations including her church, Church of the Cross and Bay Village. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Thompson, brother Lewis Buskirk, sister Lillian Hagemann and nephew James MacIntosh .

She is survived by her nieces June late James Holquist of Grand Rapids, MI, Suzanne John Burt of Zephyrhills, FL and Janet John Karlesky of Spring Arbor, MI. Many great nieces and nephews. Marian is also survived by her stepson's and their families. Ronald Shirley Thompson of Toledo, OH and children, Ronald L. Thompson of Lambertville, MI, David Kathleen Thompson of Xenia, OH, Amy Joel Askey of Anacortes, WA and Donald Thompson of Toledo, OH. Stanley Judith Thompson of Osceola, IN and children, Mark Heather Thompson of Grand Blanc, MI, Jeff Mary Thompson of Saline, MI, Libby Thompson of Lansing, MI and Judith's daughter, Stephanie Kopetski of Osceola, IN. She also has 5 great-step grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Meadow Place for the exceptional care that was provided to Marian during her residence, with a special thanks to Ann Sylvester, RN. Marian was a favorite of the staff and she truly felt at home there.

A Memorial service will be held 1 pm Saturday at the Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center, 2067 84th St., Byron Center, Mi. 49315. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to services Saturday.
