

STAAL Marvin Staal, age 89, went home to be with his Lord, Wednesday, December 18, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Theresa (Takens) Staal; his son, William Staal; grandson, Robert Staal; his brothers, Peter and Harvey Staal; sister, Kay Teerman; and his brother-in-law, James Topp.
Marvin will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 67 years, Faye Staal (Topp); his children, Randall (Eileen) Staal, Edward (Connie) Staal, Joanne (Duane) Egmer, Shirley (Thomas) Rau, John (Nancy) Staal; his 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; his brother, John Staal; sisters, Theresa Staal-Coleman, Ann (Dick) England; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Larry and Wilma Veldheer, Leona Topp; and many nieces and nephews.
Marvin was a Veteran of WWII, US Army, 113th AAA Gun Battalion; serving from February 1943 to December 1945 in North Africa, England and Leige, Belgium, during the Battle of the Bulge. He loved golfing, bowling and spent many hours preparing cancelled stamps to benefit YMCA. He and his family were charter members of Newhall Community (RCA) Church where he served as deacon and elder and was active in the Church life.
A memorial service will be held 11 AM Saturday, December 28, at Newhall Community Church, 3746 Byron Center Ave. SW in Wyoming, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 AM. Dr. Daniel Kroeze will be officiating. In honor of Marvin, contributions may be made to Newhall Community Church - Building Fund.
