Mary Lou Karseboom (Gray) passed away peacefully to be with her Lord, January 4, 2026, at the age of 91 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Karseboom; parents Frank and Mary Gray; siblings Raymond Gray, Ralph Gray, and Marjorie Rone.
Surviving family members are her son, Scott King (Anne); grandchildren Ashley Lawless and Jane Kohlhoff; nephew, Steve Karseboom (Jane); and many other nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou is from Spencer, Indiana, where she enjoyed paper dolls and designing clothes with her best friend, Marilyn Kay. Her dad (Frank) was a barber where she would visit with her dog. To this day, she felt very much at home in a barber shop. She gathered at Moss and Money's Drug Store for chocolate, cokes, and giggles. She felt so blessed growing up in Spencer with all the beauty that surrounds Owen County, such as McCormick's Creek and the curves and hills.
In high school, she was on the basketball team and played the organ at church. While working at Kelvinator International, she had the opportunity to meet Gerald Ford when he was President. She was a member of the choir at Grace Bible Church where she sang
first soprano and served as a section leader. She became a member of Calvary Church of Wayland which became her family.
Her hobbies were crocheting, playing piano, lunches with friends, craft shows, and anything to do with cats. She was an exceptional loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, Michigan, with visitation prior to the service beginning at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Mary Lou, please make donations to the Humane Society of West Michigan or Mel Trotter Ministries.
