Myrna, daughter to Uriah and Dora (Taylor) Ginter, was born April 16, 1941 in the beautiful Black Hills of Sturgis, S.D. She married David A. Sweitzer January 2, 1966 in Sturgis, S.D. They met when David was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in S.D. One day while out, he noticed a beautiful young lady sitting at a booth between two of her friends and it was love at first sight.
Myrna was a legal secretary for more than 10 years and she was considered one of the first paralegals in the nation. Myrna later worked for Amway as a product marketer for 20 years where she traveled the country to meet with distributors to show them new and upcoming products. Upon retiring, she spent time with her four grandchildren, which she loved dearly.
Some of the many wonderful things Myrna enjoyed was gardening, growing the most beautiful flowers and plants - having a green thumb like her father. Myrna also enjoyed baking cinnamon rolls and monkey bread, homemade mac and cheese, and watching movies with the family. She loved to listen to Christian music and reading her Bible, which gave her great pleasure and peace. Picnics with family always included water or pie fights and getting to the fried chicken gizzards before anyone else was always a must. The entire family remembers her infectious laugh and how Myrna loved making up quirky songs; always singing a song about anything and everything.
She is survived by her husband and love of her life, David A. Sweitzer; daughter, Dawn (Marc) Ciullo; and son, Jeffrey (Amy) Sweitzer. She is also survived by her four grandchildren who will miss her deeply: Kendra (Noah) Sette, Kennedy (Adam) Simon, Rece Sweitzer, and Elly Sweitzer; and great-grandson, Spencer Sweitzer. She has family all over the United States who will miss her dearly, which includes many nieces and nephews who live in Michigan, Ohio, Washington, Kentucky, Florida, and South Dakota, including one niece in particular, Marcie (Myers) Stange, whom Myrna and David raised as their own daughter after Myrna’s sister Darlene passed away unexpectedly.
Myrna had a large loving family who made her life full. She is preceded in death by her parents Uriah and Dora (Taylor) Ginter; infant sister, Kathleen Ginter; sister, Darlene (Ginter) Myers; brother, Irvin (Adeline) Ginter; brother, Darwin (Anna) Ginter; sister, Laurrene (Richard) Snyder; and brother, Robert (Arlene) Ginter.
Celebration of life service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Georgetown United Methodist Church, 2766 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI 49428, where she was a member. Visitation with family will take place from 10-11 a.m. prior to service. There will be a luncheon at noon following the service. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Georgetown Methodist Church or the National Kidney Foundation.
