Nancy J. Dow was called home to her Lord on Thursday, May 16, 2019. She was born on December 4, 1934 to Aljean and Earl F. Thompson Sr. She had a happy childhood along with her three brothers Earl Thompson Jr. (deceased), Joseph Thompson and Robert Thompson (deceased).
Nancy joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduation from Creston High School to seek adventure. While she did not find much adventure in the steno pool, she did find the father of her two children Michael Boswith and Patricia (Boswith) Glosik. New York City provided a bit more excitement for Nancy where she was employed as a model and was sung to by ‘Old Blue Eyes’ himself, Frank Sinatra.
She returned home to Grand Rapids, MI when her marriage came to an end. She found employment at The Grand Rapids Press where she made many good friends. During those years, she also developed a love for writing and published several short stories. At age 62, she said goodbye to The Press and went on to enjoy her retirement. She endured life altering tragedies after retirement in which she turned to her faith for strength.
She is survived by her son, Michael Boswith; daughter-in-law, Sherri Boswith; daughter, Patricia (Boswith) Glosik; son-in-law, Dennis Glosik; grandchildren Brittany and Grant Boswith; and her brother, Joseph Thompson. She will be remembered for her love of family, animals, genealogy, travel and a good book.
Per Nancy’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. She always felt one should speak their hearts to those they care about while they are alive. A private memorial will be held at a future date.
In honor of Nancy and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kelley's Heart-to-Heart Pet Adoption Center, 4011 Remembrance Rd., Walker, MI 49534. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.cookcares.com.
