She is survived by her children Parker Rydbeck-Lawson, Micah Butters, and Charlotte Butters; father and mother, Donald and Jonette Rydbeck; older brother, John (Rachel) Rydbeck; younger brother, Stephen (Joy) Rydbeck; nephews and nieces Isaiah Rydbeck, Nadiava Rydbeck, Jackson Rydbeck, and Jacob Rydbeck. Rachel was preceded in death by her grandparents Vernon and Eleanor Rydbeck and Robert and Margery Ernst.
Rachel was born June 6, 1979 in Zeeland, Michigan to Donald and Jonette Rydbeck. Rachel grew up in Allendale, Michigan, along with her older brother, John, and younger brother, Stephen. As a child, Rachel was full of life, very energetic, and active in many school and church activities. She graduated from Tri-Unity High School in 1998 and went on to college, graduating from Western Michigan University in 2003. Following college, Rachel worked in a Grand Rapids law firm as a paralegal along with working additional side jobs as she was very industrious, a penny pincher, and knew how to make a dollar stretch like no other. In 2005, Rachel had her first son, Parker, which changed her life forever, as being a mom to her new little guy was a new found joy. In 2010, she had her second son, her “Micah man,” and so loved being a mom to her two little boys. In 2014, she was excited to have her third child, a daughter, Charlotte, who brought a wonderful new dimension to the family.
She wanted to spend as much time with her children as possible so she decided to work full-time out of her home, doing a number of additional odd jobs such as dog sitting, babysitting, doing shabby chic furniture, selling anything, among others. This gave her the opportunity to include and teach her children in all the ventures she undertook. She thoroughly enjoyed doing everything with them in everything she did! She took them everywhere in Michigan - festivals, water parks, camping, fishing, hiking, boating, rock collecting, arts and crafts, mushroom hunting, and driver’s training driving with Parker, tubing, pedis and manis with Charlotte at the Princess Spa. She was a Cub Scout mom for Micah and Parker. There were competitive game nights, more arts and crafts, thousand piece puzzles, and hundreds of hours helping her kids with costumes and outfits for school, trick-or-treating, or school dance outfits, being there for any and all activities her children were involved in, along with countless other activities. She was a hands-on mom who always put her kids first. First and foremost was her desire for her children to know Jesus and grow in their relationship with Him. She also treasured and loved getting together with her brothers and sisters-in-law and families as well as extended families and could never get enough of them! Her friends were also very special to her and she loved her girls nights. She was an extremely social person with a great sense of humor, so whether it was with her kids or family or friends, if Rachel was there she would always make time for you and as everyone knew Rachel, you would have fun with Rachel there.
