Our whole family loved receiving cards from Uncle Bob. His kindness and generous spirit will be remembered for years to come. We’re sending the family our thoughts and prayers that your memories of him will sustain you through your loss.

Rest in peace Bob. You were an awesome example of how the Lord calls a man to lead his family to Christ! And how a true husband is called to love and care for his wife! 

It was with great sadness that I read of Bob’s passing. I worked with his bands at Godfrey Lee when they attended camp at MSU in the early 70s and was director of bands at Wyoming Rogers during his years in Kentwood. A fine man and fine teacher. Sincere condolences to the family.

My sincere condolences to the family. Bob and I played euphonium together in the Grand Rapids Symphonic Band for many years. We met when I did my student teaching in 1979 and joined the band. I also started my teaching career as a permanent sub at Godfrey-Lee and learned quickly what a great teacher he was! Everyone loved him and his bands were excellent. He was a shining light to so many!

Condolences to the Hill family.  Mr. Hill touched so many people and filled so many souls with music and joy. My best memories are the years at Lee High School playing in band. From concert season to marching band season Mr. Hill always gave his best. May the angels sing in the heavens. 

With fond memories of Mr. Hill and the beautiful heart that he held for his entire family and all the adventures and memories he share with so many people. May our Lord bring comfort and peace to each member of his family , and may they all lean into our Lord ❤️ and hold the memories and  Mr Hill's Love for each one of them always. My sincere condolences to all of Mr Hill's family and friends..Such a great part of LHS history is now a part of that great band in the sky..Were it not for his belief in me to always go with the best of my abilities, my love of music wouldn't have grown to the what it became over the years..God speed Mr Hill, and undying thanks from a grateful band member..

My sincere condolences to the Hill family and especially to my friend Kaylin Marie for I know how much she treasured her grandfather.

Don and I were so blessed to have known Bob and Mary Hill.  We remember Bob as a fun loving, kind and always ready for a game of Tripoli.  He was a true friend to kids; enjoyed being a Boy Scout Leader, and a great band director.  His love of music describes him. 
How well he played the "music on his saw.  How we loved hearing it.  We know that he has joined Mary and together they are rejoicing before our Lord.  Our promise is that one day we will all be together again.
For now we ask that our Lord will encompass the Hill family with His presence where they will be strengthened, encouraged, comforted and have His peace.  
Yes Bob will be missed but he will never be forgotten.  The Lord has given each of us many memories to hold in our hearts.


Mr. Hill had a great influence on my teenage life when he taught music at Lee high school in the 70's. Always kind, always patient. I look forward to seeing him again in  glory. My condolences to the family. 

The confidence that this man instilled in me was one of the greatest gifts anyone has ever given me.  He taught me to play the clarinet in 1975.  I was always in the front row but rarely could I get first chair but he was always encouraging me to try and despite my disappointments I would try and try and try.  I still play my horn.  In fact so does my granddaughter.  She is now in 6th grade.  She loves her band director too.  She is second chair.  Thank you Mr. Hill.

Your Father's light will shine forever!  He truly marched in the Lord's army. His message was Christ!

Bob is my most memorable client I've had. He was always happy to see me, just as I was happy to see him. The night I spent watching Heart Land and listening to his stories sitting on the pouch watching bats fly over our heads into the sunset will always hold a place in my heart. My heart goes out to the family, my family, not physically but spiritually. Thank you for everything Bob. I know you are in a better place now and at peace. I'm grateful to have met you. It meant so much to me. You will be in my prayers  and thoughts.

Mr. Hill was our band teacher at Lee High School. My husband and I fell in love in his class. He was a great band teacher. I will always remember the way he treated everyone with kindness. He showed his support and love by coming to our wedding. Thank you Mr Hill. We will miss you very much. May God comfort your family during this time. See you again in Heaven.

We will always remember the fun camp outs with the family at Pioneer County Park.  Bob would play hymns on his saw blade and also later we would all sing the song “Ubba cha-cha” . We are so glad he is now in a new body with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that he is reunited with Mary.  Stan and Barbara Fleece

Condolences to his family!
My best memories of school were with Mr. Hill and all the band events, parades, travels and practices (including summer band camp).  Without the music and him I probably wouldn't have lasted in school! Godspeed and March Onward!  You are a legacy.
