Roger M. Finlan, 69, of Hudsonville, Michigan passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 at Trillium Woods-Faith Hospice. Roger was a lifelong educator: a teacher, high school principal and GVSU instructor. He was diagnosed with MDS in 2011, leading to leukemia in January of 2013. Roger spent months on the Bone Marrow Transplant floor at U of M, receiving a successful stem cell transplant in May, thanks to his loving sister Mary Jo Landry, his perfect match. Roger beat the cancer, but unexpectedly had complications in the form of a rare virus.
Roger's family, including his wife Pat, daughters Kristy (Chris), and Erinn (Jon), and son Ross (Brooke), grandchildren, Hannah, Ava, Jack and Lleyton will join family and friends to celebrate his life and legacy on Saturday October 5, from 1:00 - 4:00pm at Moss Ridge Golf Club, 13545 Apple Avenue, Ravenna, MI. The memorial gathering will begin at 1:00pm followed by food, drinks and stories.
In lieu of flowers, the family would love to see you donate a pint to the Red Cross, sign up for "Be the Match" or send monetary donations to the Bone Marrow Transplant Department at the University of Michigan in Roger's name. If you would like to send a note to the family, or share a memory about Roger, please email: [email protected]
