Ronald Gene Rantz

Ronald Gene Rantz, “Bubba,” age 72, went to be with his Lord Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Ron was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Janet Rantz. He will be remembered by his loving wife, Melodye Rantz; beloved dog, Cody; children Chris Rantz, Tracey Rantz, Sarah Pepper, Nate Ringerwole, Lindsay Gainor; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; five siblings; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Born and raised in a close-knit family of five siblings, Ron had a deep love for family and cherished the time spent with loved ones - especially his wife Melodye, who nicknamed him Bubba. For over 46 years, he worked in road construction through the Operating Engineers Local 324, where his dedication and hard work earned the respect of all who knew him. Outside of work, he had a passion for farming, especially his beloved John Deere tractors, and found joy in tending to the land and animals under his care - particularly cows. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, loyalty to family, and the quiet pride he took in everything he did.

A celebration of Ron’s life will commence 11 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2025 at Cook Memorial Chapel (East Building), 4235 Prairie Street SW, Grandville, MI 49418. In honor of Ron and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to God’s Kitchen to benefit the homeless in Grand Rapids.
