

She was born on November 7, 1937, in Grand Rapids, MI to William and Irene Delnay. Ruth worked for Keeler Brass (Trident) for many years before she retired. In her early 50s, she got her driver's license, and she earned an associates degree from GRCC. Ruth always found enjoyment watching deer from her condo windows. She loved to travel and visit waterfalls. She was married to Carl Schwander Sr. for almost 34 years before he passed. She married Rafael Meana a few years later and was married to him for 27 years before his passing.
Survivors include her children Katherine Baez, Debra Hansen, Carl (Alice) Schwander Jr., Irene (Tom) Kamphuis, and Rick Feenstra; stepchildren Mark Meana, Jill (Mike) Forgensi, Jeff Meana, Charmian (Scott) Bryant, and Wayne Noblett; sister Virginia (John) Stencel; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Schwander Sr.; second husband, Rafael Meana; daughter, Janet Bieber; and stepson, Marlin Meana.
A celebration of life service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Cook Memorial Chapel, 4235 Prairie St. SW, Grandville, with a time to visit family and friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
The family extends a special thank you to the staff at The Oaks of Belmont for their loving care and support over the past four months.
