Shannon Elizabeth Benton (McLeod)

Shannon Elizabeth Benton, age 46, of Hudsonville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Thursday, January 5, 2017. She was a fighter to the end, battling cancer, setting an example to those around her of passion for people and by her love of family.

Shannon will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Scott Benton; her children, Nikolas McLeod-Haverkamp, Madison Benton, Timothy Benton; her father, Joseph (Joyce) McLeod; her mother, Sharon Brock; her brothers, Keith (Brenda) McLeod, Keith (Angie) Stoffel; her father- and mother-in-law, Tim and Cindy Benton; her sister-in-law, Stephanie (Kevin) Langejans; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida and never lost her love for the sun, the beach, the water, and beach volleyball. Shannon loved to travel, go to concerts, and hosting her kids’ friends for team parties and other activities. She worked as a Realtor for Smith-Diamond Realty, and was a part of the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors and Commercial Alliance of Realtors – West Michigan. Shannon was dedicated to the Be Nice – Mental Health Foundation and served on the Visser Family YMCA Board of Directors. She was a hard worker, and a loyal, loving friend to everyone she met.

A time for relatives and friends to visit with Shannon’s family will be held from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 PM Sunday, January 8, at Cook Memorial Chapel in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (east building). Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, January 9, at Resurrection Life Church, 5100 Ivanrest Ave. Please enter through Door E or H. Pastor Tony Hall will officiate. Interment will be at Georgetown Cemetery.
