She was preceded in death by her mother Wanda Saunders; grandson Christopher and sister Jan Drake.
She will be lovingly missed by her husband Jim Drake; children Tammy (John) Dubois, Jodi (Gary) Brumels, Jeff (Michelle) Drake, Sue (James) Cain and David (Libbie) Drake; 25 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister Debbie (Bob) Knipp; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Sharon Drake rose from humble and impoverished beginnings to make all those around her richer from having known her. Though a child of a divorce that took place before she was born, she was a faithful wife for 55 years. Though the home she was born to was broken, she was the bedrock of creating an amazingly stable and loving home for her five children.
Sharon suffered for at least 30 years with a debilitating disease that would cause most to grumble and yet managed to live every day with joyful contentment. Sharon was strong willed and spoke her mind and yet she managed to have strong options and genuine compassion at the same time.
Though not from a religious background, Sharon met Jesus right before she married and it became the foundation of every decision she made and action she took. Though at the end of her life Sharon was paralyzed and unable to walk physically, her overwhelming desire was to walk spiritually each day with Jesus, and this she did. Sharon has passed from this life and thus she is healed. It is a joy to know in her parting that her walking with Jesus has not stopped; it has been perfected, and she will walk with him forevermore.
