Veva Gertrude Nivison

NIVISON - Veva Gertrude Nivison went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 13, 2013. Veva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was born in Beaverton, Michigan on May 11, 1922, and currently was from Byron Center, Michigan. Veva enjoyed going for walks, gardening, cooking, baking, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Veva loved her Lord Jesus, and faithfully read through the Bible every year. Married to Richard Nivison on October 25, 1941, Veva was a wonderful homemaker. After raising four children, Veva worked at Hudson's Bakery as a manager and then buyer for many years. This past year she celebrated her 90th birthday and was grateful for all her years of health and energy God had given her. She was especially grateful for her loving family. She will be dearly missed.

Veva is survived by three children: daughter, Veva Bouret, and sons, Barry (Patricia) Nivison and Martin (Louise) Nivison; grandchildren Julie (Nicholas) Richardson, Charles (Maria) Nivison, David Nivison, Lela Nivison, Jake (Sara) Nivison, Sarah Nivison, Randy Postma, Phil (Jean) Postma, Patti (John) Macomber and Jeremiah (Tammy) Postma; 18 precious great-grandchildren, and siblings Lenard (June) Lake, Violet Warn and Dale (Gerry) Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Nivison; son, Rex Nivison; parents, Charles and Florence Lake; and siblings George, Lela, and Leslie Lake.

A service to celebrate Veva's life will be held this Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 12 pm at Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center Chapel, 2067 84th St. Byron Center. The family will receive relatives and friends Friday 6 pm to 8 pm at the Cook Funeral Home, Byron Center.
