
Emma L. Dexter Emma L. Dexter, 80, passed away January 2, 2015, at Arbor House Memory Care. She was born Emma Gurule to Don and Viola Gurule in Flagstaff, Ariz., on March 29, 1934.Emma married Harold L. Dexter on June 30, 1951, in Reno, Nev. They had four children. Emma was a wife, mother and caregiver. She served as the head baker for North Valley High School and was secretary of the cooks union. She retired so she could enjoy being a snow bird in the winter and that extended to other travels.When Emma and Harold moved to Tri-City and found that there were no bike paths for the kids, they started a community effort planning bike paths for the children to get to school safely. She enjoyed family and friends, and had many hobbies including sewing, cooking, baking, crafts and art of all kinds.Emma was involved in growing large gardens and loved to share with family and friends. She loved all the neighborhood children and animals of all kinds.Emma was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Lou Dexter. She is survived by her husband Harold and three children; Rick Dexter, Robert and Toni Dexter and Betty and Steve Lampert. She leaves four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Services will be at Chapel of the Valley Jan. 9, 2015. Viewing 8am to 9:30am, with services to follow at 10am. Her final resting place will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Donations can be made in care of the Josephine County Humane Society.
