Bob Hauckes was born to Arthur and Celestine in Philadelphia, growing up alongside his siblings Joey, Kathy, and Danny, who shared a birthday with him on March 1st. Bob humorously claimed to Danny that his life was great the first 13 years of his life before Danny's arrival.
A proud graduate of Roman Catholic High School in 1965, Bob was an active member of the Mummers Uptown String Band. Following his father’s footsteps, he served in the Navy as a petty officer on the USS Bon Homme Richard during the Vietnam War, where he refueled aircraft. His service earned him numerous commendations, including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After being discharged in 1973 in San Diego, Bob moved to the Bay Area, where he met his future wife, Theresa, at National Can Corporation. Together, they raised a loving family while both returning to school to earn their degrees in computer science. Bob worked as an engineer at Lockheed Martin, contributing to the Space Station project.
Bob had a vibrant spirit; he loved ballroom dancing, drawing horses, reading, and all things Western. He played guitar, sang in the church choir, and dedicated time as a Scout Master. Bob and Theresa cherished their travels to Southern Oregon to visit family and dreamed of retiring surrounded by nature. After retiring, they realized this dream, moving to Southern Oregon, but sadly, shortly after, Bob was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma due to his exposure to Agent Orange during the war. He faced this battle with remarkable courage for four years.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Theresa; his sons, Anthony, Matt and Michael; his daughter, Kimberly; his sister Kathy; his brother Dan; his granddaughters Ashley, Kaytee and Teyah; his grandsons Tyler, Joshua, Alex, Jacob, Zach, Josh and Sam; son-in-law, Tom; daughters-in-law Sandy, Corinne and Kimmie; his great-granddaughter Ryleigh along with four other great-grandchildren; and his niece Alexandrea.
Bob will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, his service to his country, and his deep love for nature. His impact on the lives of those around him will be felt for generations, and he will be deeply missed.
