She was the wife of the late Robert (Bob) Ladd to whom she was married for 60 years. She is survived by her 4 children and 7 grandchildren, as well as a younger sister.
She led a full and exciting life, filled with family, travel, and faith. When she was 16, Barbara was crowned Bicentennial Queen of Cranston, RI. She went on to become a registered nurse and served as the youngest supervisor of nurses at St Joseph’s Hospital in RI. She loved the ER and surgery and had found her passion, which led her to pursue nursing in the United States Air Force.
Here, she eventually met and married the love of her life, Bob, a pilot for the USAF. As they raised their children, Barbara continued her nursing career and also served as a school nurse throughout the children’s school years. She was a devoted mother, making every milestone, holiday, and ordinary moment something special. Her love of God, family, and traditions filled their home.
Barbara was an avid golfer and loved playing in tournaments with her husband. She loved the outdoors, camping, reading, cooking, and growing her own herbs. Everything was homemade.
Love extended beyond family. Barbara gave from her heart. She was a strong prayer warrior and she and Bob devoted their retirement years to spreading the love of Christ. She loved talking about our Lord and Savior and praying for others.
Barbara used scripture to encourage others: among her favorites were Proverbs 3:6 “Seek His will in all you do and He will direct your paths” and Psalm 91.Barbara loved deeply and passionately. God and her family were everything to her.
A committal service for Barbara will be held Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 9:00 AM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211. Family and friends are invited to attend.
