Benny Parish, a lifelong resident of Roanoke, Texas, went to be with his Lord on May 3, 2026, just two weeks shy of his 93rd birthday. Born on May 17, 1933, to Walter and Lorene Parish, Benny’s path in life was clear from the age of five: he wanted to be a farmer, just like his father.
That childhood dream became a lifelong reality as Benny farmed in partnership with his father for many years. A man of tireless work ethic, he balanced the demands of the farm while also serving his community as a full-time postal worker.
Benny was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Edna Mae Parish; his parents Walter and Lorene Parish; his sister, Bonnie McKee; his brother, Darrell Parish; his son, Ricky Parish; and his granddaughter, Gena Thomas.
He leaves behind a rich legacy through his children: Lora Thomas and her husband Gary, Shannon Darne and her husband Earl, and David Parish and his wife Cindy. He was the proud grandfather of Shane (and wife Sara), Aaron (and wife Mandy), and Brandon Parish, and Parish Darne (and wife Sydney) and Jason Darne. His light continues to shine through his seven great-grandchildren: Matea, Brynlee, Clare, Abigail, Lillian, and Adelaide Parish, and Joel Darne.
Whether he was fishing, camping with Edna Mae, or enjoying a competitive game of dominoes, Benny cherished time spent outdoors and with loved ones. In recent years, he found great joy in the quiet challenge of working jigsaw puzzles with his family.
He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his lifelong love for the farm.
A Memorial Service will be held at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Directors, 523 S Main St, Grapevine, TX 76051, on May 19, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
