Billy E. Martin was born December 8, 1928 in Van Zandt County, Texas, the son of Leon and Anna Belle (Barker) Martin. He passed from this life February 11, 2015 in Hurst, Texas at the age of 86 years. Billy had lived in the Hurst area since 1974. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a Mason and a Deacon at Shady Oaks Baptist Church. Billy retired from Bell Helicopter after 25 years of service. He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and any outdoor activity. Billy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Nell Yarbrough and Betty Bunch and a brother, Bobby Martin. He is survived by his wife Ruby of Hurst; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Pam Martin of Mesquite, Phillip and Julie Martin of Tucson, Arizona and Brian and Julie Martin of Hurst; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Mary Martin of Mattagordo, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. A memorial donation in Billy’s name, may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
