

John was a graduate of Central High School in Oklahoma City, where he participated in ROTC. He proudly served our country from 1948-1952 in the US Air Force. He was active duty-stateside during the Korean War.
In 1953, he started his career in the printing business with Mike Bryan Printing Company in Oklahoma City. On March 17, 1954, he married the love of his life, Loriece Boatright. They lived in Oklahoma City until 1958, then relocated to Dallas where he began working for Etheridge Printing Company. He dedicated 39 years to Etheridge until he left in 1996. He was not ready to quit just yet, so he spent 8 years at R.E. Graphics Printing Company in Dallas before retiring in 2004. During his time in the printing industry, he served several terms as the president of the Dallas Printing Club.
John loved to watch football and golf. He was known as “Mr. Fix-It," and he enjoyed working on cars.
He was an active member at Pipeline Road / Legacy Church of Christ for more than 50 years where he enjoyed leading singing, driving the Joy Bus, and being part of the visitation ministry.
His beloved wife of 57 years, Loriece Boatright Roberts, preceded him in death, along with his five siblings Kay Herring, Gene Roberts, Ruby Mills, Laura Trumbly, and Livianna Elliott.
He is survived by his daughters Kathy Roberts and Terri Fonville and her husband Jerry, his grandchildren Dave Fonville and his wife Rose, Lori Sweet and her husband Jon, and his boxer grand-pup Penny.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 2:30pm at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, TX with a memorial service and reception to follow at 4:00pm at Legacy Church of Christ, 8801 Mid Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills, TX. J. Bailey will be officiating the services.
