Michael Bradley Eklund—known to most simply as Mike—entered eternal rest on January 18, 2026, at the age of 46. Born on September 17, 1979, in Andrews County, Texas, Mike’s life was rooted deeply in Texas soil, shaped by faith, family, hard work, and an uncommon kindness that drew people to him.
Mike spent his early years in Odessa, Texas, before his family later settled in Grapevine, a place that would remain central to his life and heart. It was there that many of his most formative years unfolded and where he would eventually build a life of meaning, service, and love.
Mike attended Grapevine High School, where he proudly played on the school’s championship football team. He went on to attend Austin College in Sherman, Texas, continuing to play football and further developing the discipline, teamwork, and integrity that would define his life. It was also at Austin College that Mike met the love of his life, Kristen. They shared 18 years of marriage—years marked by partnership, devotion, laughter, and deep mutual respect.
Professionally, Mike dedicated 18 years to the financial services industry, culminating in his role as Vice President and Financial Consultant at Charles Schwab. He was exceptionally gifted in his work—not because of numbers alone, but because of people. Mike was one of the most approachable individuals one could meet: a great listener with a warm sense of humor, deeply relatable to people from every walk of life. He had a rare ability to uncover unstated needs, and his clients trusted him not only with their finances, but with their stories.
Outside of work, Mike’s greatest joy was his family. He cherished time spent with his children, Nadia and Aiden, enthusiastically supporting them as they pursued their interests and passions. He coached the Showtime girls softball team, finding fulfillment in teaching and encouraging young girls to excel. He shared countless small, meaningful moments—hunting Pokémon cards with his son, watching anime together, going on daddy-daughter dates with Nadia, and building memories that will live on forever.
Mike loved the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and being at one with nature brought him peace. He also shared a special tradition with his wife, Kristen: hunting for vintage ties together, a simple joy that reflected their shared curiosity and love for the details that make life rich.
Mike is survived by his wife, Kristen Eklund; his daughter, Nadia Eklund; his son, Aidan Eklund; his mother, Janet Eklund; his father, Brad Eklund; his brother, Joseph Eklund; his brother-in-law, Nicholas Johnson; his sister-in-law, Olivia Eklund; his niece, Lucia Eklund; his nephew, Roman Eklund; and his grandmother, Bunny Eklund.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elton and Dorothy Humphries, and by his paternal grandfather, James “Jim” Eklund.
Michael Eklund was deeply loved and is deeply missed. He was an irreplaceable force of nature—steady, generous, present, and kind. His impact will continue to ripple through the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will be carried forward in love, laughter, and quiet moments of remembrance.
He will never be forgotten. He will always be loved.
