Nona was born March 18, 1923 in Dallas, Dallas County, Texas to William Ernest Reed and Hessie Forest Wade. She was a homemaker, traveler, fisherwoman and an avid genealogist. With her husband, Rayburn and their extended family, Nona spent many years game- and sport-fishing in and around Port Aransas, Texas, and angling with the Bass Club in North Texas lakes. As a student of history, she loved to visit archaeological and historical sites, traveling to Mexico, Central and South America, as well as Japan and Hawaii. In pursuit of family histories, she traveled to the National Archives in Washington DC and the LDS Library in Salt Lake City, walked many old cemeteries and dug around in countless County courthouse basements looking for genealogical treasure.
During her life she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Dallas Historical Society, Dallas County Pioneers, the Braniff Women’s Auxiliary, and the Braniff Retirement Club. She loved her Braniff Airways family as well as her North Dallas “Dunhaven Diva” buddies.
Nona was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Rayburn Harold Williams, her parents Ernest and Hessie Reed, her maternal grandparents James Hiram Wade and Ollie Susan Ward, her paternal grandparents Elijah Reed and Martha Loutisha (Tishy) Ayers, and by her son Ernest Earl (Sonny) Williams(USN Retired) of Port Aransas, Texas.
