

Roger was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 15, 1929, to Roger and Claire Hanson. Roger served in the Coast Guard as a fire controlman on the icebreaker USCGC Northwind, mainly in Alaska. After Coast Guard service Roger began a career in aircraft pilot training simulators. He first worked for Singer Link Aviation where an early assignment led him to Laredo, Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Oralia "Rae" Dickinson, to whom he was married for 63 years. Later he worked at the American Airlines Flight Academy in Fort Worth, Texas where he retired after 25 years of supporting pilot training simulators.
Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, gardening, music and was an avid reader. Many who knew Roger and his wife, Rae, fondly remember them dancing the jitterbug well into their eighties.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Claire Hanson, his wife, Oralia Hanson, and his brother, Norman Hanson.
He is survived by his children Roger (Donna) Hanson, Stephen (Donna) Hanson, and Nancy Robinson; his grandchildren Kimberly (Jason) Babineaux, Lauren (Leonard) Silva, Brian (Raquel) Robinson, Eric Hanson (deceased), Stephanie Hanson and Jennifer Hanson; his great-grandchildren Kaleigh Babineaux, Parker Babineaux, Brooke Robinson, Luke Silva, and Liam Silva.
A viewing for family and close friends will be held at J. E. Foust Funeral Home in Grapevine, Texas from 10:00-11:00 AM followed by a graveside service at 11:30 AM at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville, Texas on Saturday, October 14, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Roger's name to the Alzheimer's Association.
