

Shawna was born on December 5, 1968, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Howard Kent Stutz and Janet Ivers Stutz. She graduated from Grapevine High School in 1986. On August 6, 1988, she married William Ervin Stewart in Grapevine, Texas. Their love story began when Shawna, encouraged by her longtime friend Chandra, asked William to take her for a ride in his pickup truck—Cupid struck quickly, and their journey together began.
Shawna worked for many years as a licensed professional hairstylist. She enjoyed watching crime investigation shows, loved all kinds of arts and crafts, and cherished spending time with her family. She also deeply loved the family dog of 16 years, Buddy, who passed away just one month prior to her.
Shawna grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose love knew no limits. Her grandson brought her immense joy and pride.
She is survived by her loving husband, William Ervin Stewart; her daughter, Ashley Estelle Stewart; and her grandson, Preston Ervin Varner. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Bill Stewart; brothers-in-law Paul Mack and his wife Denise, and Darrin Stewart; and her Stewart family nephews, John, Grant, and Daniel.
Additional survivors include her siblings: Lloyd Stutz and wife Leanne; Annjanette Vandergriff; Matt Stutz and wife Melissa; Deborah Lienemann and husband Chad; and Steven Stutz and wife Roxanne.
Shawna was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Kent and Janet Ivers Stutz, and her mother-in-law, Ann Estelle McBride Stewart.
Shawna was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a remarkable way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and understood. Her compassion and generosity touched countless lives, and her memory will live on through the love she shared so freely. Though her passing was abrupt and unexpected, the impact of Shawna’s life will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and all whose lives she brightened.
Visitation will be held on January 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home, located at 523 S. Main Street, Grapevine, Texas.
Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
At 2:00 p.m., a brief graveside service will be held at Victor Cemetery, an ancestral Stewart family cemetery located south of Desdemona, Texas.
