Bertram Don Sands

A devoted orthodontist (DDS, NYU; Orthodontics, Columbia University), he cared for generations of children in his Brooklyn private practice. Dr. Sands proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, providing orthodontic care to servicemen and women.

He was the beloved father of Alicia Sands (Rob Fioretti), a proud Popi to Matthew, Daniel, Malena, and Delilah, and devoted dog Grandpa to Maggie. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, encyclopedic memory, unwavering punctuality, deep love for his family and friends and tremendous pride in his country and heritage.

A chapel service will be held at Riverside-Nassau North Chapels, located at 55 North Station Plaza, Great Neck, NY 11021, on June 27, 2025, from 9:30 am to 10:15 am.

Following the chapel service, a committal service will take place at Beth Moses Cemetery, located at 1500 Wellwood Ave, West Babylon, NY 11704, on June 27, 2025, from 11:15 am to 11:45 am.

Shiva will be held at North Shore Towers, Coleridge Room, 269-10 Grand Central Parkway, Queens, NY 11005 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
