

Agnes was born in Bluesky, Alberta, Canada to Charles Biegel and Margaret (Becher) Biegel. She was one of 8 children. She was raised in a loving family where there was a great love for humor, music, and hard work on the family farm. Their Catholic faith was the highest priority. Agnes came to the USA at age 17 with 2 of her cousins to join a Poor Clare Franciscan religious community in Indiana. Her religious name was Sr. Dolorita. While in the convent she received her nursing degree and worked in several states. She was an intensive care and operating room nursing supervisor. Agnes obtained her Master's Degree in nursing administration at Catholic University in Washington, DC. While in DC she attended President Kennedy’s funeral along with other members of her Franciscan order. She became a US citizen in 1952. After 20 years she decided, after much prayer, to leave the convent along with her friend, Marilyn, and moved to Colorado. Agnes was a UNC nursing professor for 20 years. She retired in 1990.
After retirement she kept active by volunteering at St. Mary Catholic Church, for the American Business Women’s Association, Greeley Senior Center and other places. She traveled to several countries including frequent visits to Canada to visit family. Agnes had a deep faith and loved to attend religious events. She loved music, singing, dancing and was a gifted piano player. She enjoyed playing cards especially Bridge, and visiting with people. Her family states: Her examples of unquenchable curiosity, steadfastness, moral strength, solid Christian values, zest for life, unbridled joy, and pure love will remain in our hearts as we keep her memory alive in our children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Mary Doll, Ann Ruether and Sabina Doll and brothers John, Joseph and Frank Biegel.
She is survived by her sister Gertrude Doll of Canada and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020 followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. both at St. Mary Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Avenue, Greeley. Inurnment Sunset Memorial Gardens.,
