I was so sorry to hear at a meeting this morning of Gayle's recent passing.  Somehow I completely missed seeing the obituary in the paper.  

Gayle was one of those people that we will always remember at Eldergarden forever.  She had a certain spunk and joy of life that is hard to match in any shape or form.  It was still there even with Alz disease.  The people at Bee Hive tell me that she still had that sparkle through the five years that she was there.

Well our loss is heaven's gain, but we are still sad to hear that she is gone from our sight.  We send our heartfelt blessings to your family during this time.   Judy VanEgdom and Juanita Gonzalez of Eldergarden Adult Day Care.

Dear Jim, Carol, and David, I was so sad to hear the news about Alice. She was a special person. I remember working with Jim at Iowa State from 1977-79, and both he and Alice invited me over to their home for dinner many times, especially at Thanksgiving. Her sense of humor and kindness was something I never forgot. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Alice was a kind, carrying person.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family, she will be missed but many memories will remain.  I feel blessed to have met her 5 years ago and to be apart of her and Jim's life.

I was saddened to learn of Alice's passing. I have many memories of Alice at Sawyer. She was kind and caring to adults and children alike. She was always ready to find just the right book, whether a child was asking, or a teacher was looking for a book to use with a child. She will be remembered by many.

I was painting the Sawyer gym one summer during college, and a warm and welcome face popped in. ""Hey Mrs. Warner,"" I said. ""It's Alice now,"" she quickly replied. She'll always be Mrs. Warner to me, which I have and will always say with great respect.

I was so sorry to learn of your loss.  I have such warm memories of working with Alice at Sawyer School.  She was wonderful in helping children find just the right book.  Then she worked with students in my fourth grade room and was encouraging, caring, and kind guiding them with their work.  We talked a lot about growing roses and their care.  My thoughts are with all of you.

Alice and I had fun years working together in the Sawyer Media Center.  She was a delightful woman and so good working with children.  I know you will miss her but how wonderful to be married for 62 years!  Carmen Christensen

Dear Jim, Carol, David & family- My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  The loss of a loved one is very difficult, but memories are ours to cherish.  I enjoyed so much working with Alice at Sawyer School.  She was my first Secret Santa and she really took me on a long and fun ride to the very end. I've never forgotten her kindness shown to me. We were so sorry to learn of Alice's death.  We felt lucky to have you as good neighbors on Ross Road.  Even Patty, our fox terrier, benefitted -- you kept her sometimes when we were away.  Alice will be missed -- she touched many lives with warmth and true caring.

Carol,  I was very sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. I remember the good times and some adventures we had at the Knapp Street house in Ames.  I also recall the music we listened to at your house on Ross Road.  When I hear certain songs I go right back there to your living room with the metal (was it cylindrical?) fireplace. Remember the tornado warning?  I dove under the pool table and your mother laughed and laughed. (I did look silly.)  She was such a warm person. What did she call you, Ba, was it? She had a beautiful smile.  Again, I am very sorry for your loss.
