

Apolinar “Dan” Castro Jr., 85, of Greeley, passed away, June 1, 2015 at Summit Rehabilitation and Care Community in Aurora. He was born February 21, 1930 in Taylor, Texas to Apolinar Daniel Sr. and Natalie (Lopez) Castro.
Dan was reared and educated in Taylor, Texas. After his education, he continued to live in Texas. He drove trucks over the road most of his life. He came to Colorado in the late 1970’s.
Dan married Ellee Anita Trober on July 10, 1982 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Greeley.
Dan was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Spanish Club of Evans and McDonald’s Breakfast Club at Walmart.
Dan enjoyed gardening and had the smallest commercial peach orchard in this area known as “Dan Peaches” which was featured in an article in The Greeley Tribune. Dan loved to play bingo. He was fun loving and sociable and enjoyed telling stories. Above all was his total devotion to Ellee.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife Ellee, daughter Alice Garcia, six grandchildren, Rachel (Jeffrey) Anderson, Phillip McNeil, Naomi Trujillo, Cody Trujillo, Dale Daniel Casias and Marcia Casias; six great grandchildren; 4 siblings Lupe C. Carrazales, Juvenal (Raquel) Castro, Antonio (Josefina) Castro, Virginia C. Arzola. He was preceded in death by one daughter Christina Trujillo and several siblings.
Funeral service 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 3015 at Trinity Episcopal Church with a reception to follow. Private interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
