Our Beautiful, Loving Mom, Barbara Mildred Lundell, 86, passed away on November 5, 2020 at the Life Care Center of Greeley, Colorado from COVID-19 which accelerated her Parkinson and caused her death in 4 days. She was born February 15, 1934 in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Arthur and Mildred Swenson.
Barb graduated from Bloomington High School in 1952. She attended St Olaf College for a year. She married the love of her life on March 27, 1954. She met Erling in grade school and he asked her to marry her when he was over in Korea during the war. They lived in Minnesota until 1966 when Erling got a job with IBM and they moved to Longmont, Colorado. They moved to Milliken in 2003. They were married 66 years. They were charter members of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, MN and member of the First Lutheran Church in Longmont where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and held many offices. They just became members of Milliken Presbyterian Church in 2019. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Minneapolis for over 60 years.
Barb never met a stranger and was very active in community and charity work. President of Longmont Newcomers Club, three-term President of the Longmont Hospital Auxiliary, President of the Colorado Association of Hospital Auxiliaries, sat on the Longmont United Hospital Board of Trustees, American Legion Auxiliary President, Northern District representative for the American Cancer Society, Boulder County Social Services Advisory Committee, Boulder County Sheriff’s Department Victim Assistance and the list doesn’t end here. When they moved to Milliken she became just as active in the community from volunteering several times a week at the senior center, on the Keep Milliken Beautiful Committee, member of the Centennial Celebration Group, Milliken Beef and Bean Day Volunteer, and active in the Milliken Historical Society.
Barb worked for Dr Rowley for over 7 years in Longmont. Later she helped with the family’s four car washes and their Accurate Plastics Engineering company. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and staying in close contact with her friends, dancing, entertaining, cooking, knitting, crafts, camping, snowmobiling and making jewelry and driving her corvette. She was always busy! She loved to travel and her and Erling took several cruises and spent many years traveling in their RV. She traveled throughout Europe with a close friend and spent time with Cindy in the Netherlands and travelled to Norway.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her granddaughter Jennifer Lundell Chandler and her brother Richard Dale Swenson.
Survived by her husband Erling Lundell, Daughter Cindy Lundell (Kathy) Step Grandson Robert, Daughter Julie Lundell, Grandson Christopher Steven Chandler (Anna) and many nieces and nephews. Extended family members, Lois Ann Oronato, Ty, Betty, Isiah, Joshua and Eli Persons, Judy Ross, Marlys, Wayne and Lu Kluck, Greg Kluck, Val Kluck Palm (Rick).
Private memorial at a later date. Interment will be at Foothills Gardens of Memory, Longmont, Colorado at a later date.
The family has designated The Parkinson’s Foundation and Milliken Historical Society for memorial contributions.
