

Barbara Ann (Miller) Phillips, 80, passed away at Juniper Village in Louisville August 31, 2016 after a long illness. Barbara was born Dec. 3, 1935 to Albert and Inez (Newell) Miller in Larned, KS. As her father Albert recalled, two weeks later the young family moved to Greeley CO. through a winter storm. While attending Greeley High School, she helped her father in his public accounting business, later attending C.S.U. and graduating from The Univ. of Northern Colo. She was a member of many clubs and organizations including band and student council. Barbara married Marvin Anderson and they had two children, Larry and Carol. She was employed by Wheeler Realty at this time. A few years later Barbara married Hugh Phillips and the family moved to Boulder, CO. During the short time in Boulder she worked as the accountant for Phillips Construction and continued to do so for 40 years. They had many family and friends and enjoyed camping, dinners out and family functions. In 1969 the family moved to Montrose, CO. Barbara made new friends, raised her children and was active in the Girl Scouts. Along the way she enjoyed church activities, reading and always had a dog or a cat as she loved animals. In 1976 the family moved back to the Boulder area. Hugh died in 1995; Barbara moved to a smaller home in Longmont. She continued to enjoy friends, playing cards and traveled to London with her sister Beverley. She also enjoyed her family, especially her great-grandchildren. For years Barbara volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Longmont. Barbara moved to Louisville in 2012 as a result of her battle w/ Alzheimer’s. Barbara is survived by her son, Larry (Sherri) Phillips of Montrose, CO., daughter Carol Venrick of Loveland, CO., step-daughter Suzanne Phillips of Los Angeles, CA. Eight grandchildren: Kristi (Phillips) Rubenstein, Jason Phillips, Jeremy Phillips, Kelli Phillips, Corissa Venrick and Colton Venrick, Talia Bolnick, Philip Bolnick. Six great grandchildren: Zayden and Kenzie Songer, Lyndon and Aslan Phillips, Brooke and Rose Rubenstein. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hugh Phillips, sister Beverly (Miller) Sprole and great-grandson Zackary Phillips. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at Juniper Village and Sebastian Luiz of hospice for their loving care of our mom. A memorial service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held Tuesday, Sept. 20th, 11 am at the First Congregational Church, 1500 9th St, Longmont, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association Colorado in care of Allnutt Funeral Service.
