Betty Jane Bechtholdt

Betty was born November 16, 1932, in Windsor. She was the eldest of 5 children. She attended school in Severance and Windsor. She married Glen Bechtholdt in 1951, while he was in the Air Force. They lived in Alabama and Washington before returning to Colorado. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2001.

In 1961, they started Highland Nurseries. They ran the business together for 37 years. During this time, she was active in both state and national nursery organizations.

Betty’s family always came first. She raised 3 boys and attended many of their school, 4-H, and sports activities. She sang in the church choir, enjoyed reading, needlework, playing the piano and organ and hosted lots of family gatherings.

She is survived by her 3 sons: Robert (Tricia) of Parker; Mark of Greeley; Steve (Laura) of Evergreen; six grandchildren: Bryant (Sheena); Kate (Chris); Dane (Elena); Jenna; Rachel; Jacob (Ashley); two step grandsons: Yale (Amber); Rex (Caesie); and nine great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, at 11:00am at St. Paul’s Congregational Church in Greeley. Lunch will follow in the parish hall.
