Darlene Purvis

Darlene B. Purvis, 77, of Greeley died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at North Colorado Medical Center, Hospice unit. Darlene was born on December 31, 1934 in Lamar, Colorado to Delbert W. and Allene B. (Tremane) Lester.

Darlene grew up in Derby, Colorado. She was a caregiver most of her life. She was a certified nurse’s assistant. She worked at Weld County Health Department. She later worked in private home care. Darlene has lived in the Greeley area most of her adult life.

On June 4, 1991, she married L.D. “Sonny” Purvis in Las Vegas, Nevada. He died on December 26, 2004.

Darlene was a member of the Hill-N-Park Senior Center. She loved working in her yard and her garden. She was a very caring person and always put others before herself. She enjoyed trips to the mountains. Above all was her love and care for her family.

Darlene is survived by her daughter, Jackie (Rick) Hurley of Greeley; two sons, Mike (Chris) Keil of Ft. Pierre, South Dakota and Bob (Sandy) Keil of Eaton; a step-daughter, Pam Brookshire of Arizona; three sisters, Sharon (John) Strasser of Greeley, Patty (Ed) Kercher of Lakewood and Sandy (Eddie) Monroe of Longmont; three brothers, Buddy (Brigetta) Lester of Colorado Springs, Ron (Joyce) Lester of Goodland, Kansas and Doug (Judy) Lester of Longmont; special friends, Regina Alter and family of Kersey and Ruth Allmer of Eaton; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sonny, a grandson, Shawn Hurley and her parents, Del and Allene Lester.

Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 13 at Stoddard Funeral Home.
