

David Leroy Schwartz, 86 of Greeley, passed away June 27, 2015 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. David was born to John George and Elizabeth (Schneider) Schwartz on December 17, 1928. He married Margaret Hein on April 16, 1950. She died on February 9, 1993.
As a son of German from Russia immigrants, Dave grew up on the family farm outside of Windsor. Dave attended Windsor schools until he left to help on the farm while his older brothers were serving in the military. Shortly after he married he moved to Greeley and worked for Meadow Gold delivering milk for several years. He also worked for NoCo Distributing delivering beer, and then worked at Monfort Packing Plant. He then returned to delivering milk with Lowell Paul Dairy. In 1988, he and his wife Margaret founded Schwartz’s Krautburger Kitchen which has become a staple in the community for over 27 years and continues today.
Dave always enjoyed meeting new people. He was known as the Krautburger King. He always took pride in his ownership and reputation of providing quality food.
Dave was a member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church, a longtime member of the Elks Club, Moose Lodge, VFW and Eagles.
He is survived by his sons Allen (Beverly) Schwartz, Lonnie (Susan) Schwartz, and Corey (Tina) Schwartz; 11 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife Margaret; his parents; brothers John, Jake, Reuben, Vic, Eddie and Clarence; and sisters Mary Schild and Helen Thiele.
A visitation will be held starting at 12:00 noon followed by the service to be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at St. Paul’s Congregational Church, 1525 43rd Avenue, Greeley. Interment at Linn Grove Cemetery.
