Donald Allen Baumgartner, a pillar of strength and kindness, passed away on April 5, 2024, at the age of 75 in Greeley, Colorado. Born on April 12, 1948, in Brush, Colorado, he was the beloved son of Herbert (Bud) and Eva Baumgarner. Donald spent his formative years aiding his family in their farm work.
Educated in Fort Morgan, Wiggins, and College High School, Donald's life took a significant turn when he joined the Army, serving during the Vietnam War. As the draft was imminent, he was stationed in Germany, where his beloved Carolyn joined him, creating cherished memories together before she completed her own schooling.
Upon returning home, Donald began working in the concrete industry, where his dedication and entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found a successful concrete ready-mix business alongside Ron Coburn. Together, they established concrete plants in three locations including Denver, Littleton, and Brighton leaving a lasting impact on the industry.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Donald was a devoted family man and friend. Known for his unwavering support and reliability, he was cherished as the best friend, husband, father, grandfather, and a pretty dang good golfer. His character and steadfastness endeared him to all who knew him, as he was always there when needed, offering a helping hand without hesitation.
Donald leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Carolyn Baumgartner (Reeve), his daughters Lisa (married to Mike Carpenter) and Kristen (married to Jason Ream), his grandchildren Christopher Carpenter (married to Kayley), Jason Ream Jr., and Madison Ream, and his great-granddaughter, Briar Carpenter.
He is also survived by his siblings Dale Baumgartner (married to Lil), Mike Baumgartner (married to Sheree), and Diane (married to Ron McPhillips), along with nieces and nephews Errin Baumgartner, Justin Baumgartner (married to Sarah), Erick Baumgartner (married to Sarah), Stacy (married to Paul Murray), Chantel Milanes, and Raymond McPhillips.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert (Bud) and Eva Baumgartner. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire generations to come.
