Doug graduated from Greeley West High School in 2009. He was a member of the marching band for all 4 years playing trombone and baritone. He enlisted in the Army the summer of 2010 serving one tour in Iraq, three tours in South Korea and briefly in Kuwait. Prior to enlisting, Doug mostly kept to himself but after entering the Army, he became very outgoing and opinionated…in good way.
Doug was very funny (occasionally sarcastic) without trying. He was nerdy and proud of it. He was nuts about cats, loved donuts, Red Robin, Beavis and Butthead, Star Wars and Star Trek (he saw the newest Star Trek movie in the theater 10 times), and video and computer games (Mech Warrior and Monster Hunter), which he played with his best friend Andrew from 3:00 P.M. to 3-4:00 A.M. almost daily. Andrew would stay up late to play video games with Doug while he was serving overseas in Korea.
Doug did a lot of cartoon art and was very tech savvy. He was a gun nut and enjoyed going out and shooting guns with friends and family whenever he could. He also was a Jeep fanatic and loved off-roading. And, he loved music…Metallica and Judas Priest's song, Breaking The Law.
Doug is survived by his parents, Denise and David Sachs, and Brian Collins; sisters, Alyssa Collins and Samantha Sachs; brothers, Sean and Joshua Sachs; nephew, Arlo Barnes; grandfather, Dennis Smith; and his best friend, Andrew Green.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Carol Smith and Mavis Mutschler.
Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Reception in the Allnutt Reception Center. Interment 2:00 P.M. at Linn Grove Cemetery.
