Elizabeth “Betty” Arvas, 88, of Greeley, passed away peacefully at Fairacres Manor on Monday, May 7, 2018. She was born on January 8, 1930 in Ashland, Kansas to William Lindamood and Hazel Wibright.
Betty graduated from Roosevelt High School in Portland, Oregon. She married her husband, Charles Arvas, on August 22, 1951 in Golden, Colorado. Betty was a long standing member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 30 years. She was also a member of American Business Women’s Association and Make-Do-Hobby Club. Betty was a co-leader for Girl Scouts and worked for Gilbert Drug Store (Hillside) for 15 years. She also substituted at Weldorado Drug and was a school bus rider for six months.
Betty lived in Alaska with her daughter, Rebecca and son-in-law, John for ten years before moving back to Greeley in 2015.
She is survived by daughter, Rebecca and son-in-law, John Fryzek. She is also survived by her half-brother, Robert Carl Lindamood Rook of Portland; half-sister, Juanita Garcia of Dodge City, Kansas and a cousins, Linda Anderson and Paul Anderson of Orange, California.
