
Ernestine was raised and educated in Amarillo, graduating from Palo Duro High School. After graduation, she entered the U.S. Army, where she was trained as a nurse and medic. She was stationed in Frankfort, Germany during the Viet Nam conflict. She was honorably discharged on June 19, 1970. She moved to Longmont, where she was introduced through friends to LeRoy Conaway. She married LeRoy on June 14, 1974 in Boulder, Colorado. After their marriage, they lived in Longmont where they welcomed their daughter Jennifer. They moved to the Greeley area in 1982 and into their current residence in 1985.
Ernestine enjoyed playing games and reading. She was an excellent seamstress. Above all was her love for her family, especially her grandchildren.
Ernestine is survived by her husband, LeRoy; daughter, Jennifer (Michael) Travis of Loveland; step-daughter, Pam (Chuck) Woodard of Chico, Texas; two step-sons, Richard Conaway and Greg (Rhonda) Harris all of Loveland; sister, Vicky Duffy of San Antonio, Texas; brother, Larry (Micki) Ruzowski of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Inurnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
