Evelyn was born April 16, 1947 in Greeley, Colorado to Edward and Louise (Harrms) Hahn. She and her two brothers Leroy and Eugene were all raised on the family ranch and farm east of Grover. Evelyn was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She attended Grover School where she graduated in 1965. She then attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. On March 13, 1966 her and William (Bill) Hoffman were married at Zion Lutheran Church of Grover where the foundation of Christ in their marriage began. Through this marriage, Evelyn and Bill raised two children Eric and Amy. Her most important life job was being a mother and rancher's wife helping to run the ranch and home southeast of Grover with Bill.
Evelyn also worked for Pawnee School as a bus route and activity driver from 1978-2006. She was always a cheerleader and volunteer helping to keep books at the games or just pitching in at the school. She designed and sewed countless costumes for the many musicals at Pawnee School for students to wear each year. She became a second mom to many students making a safe place for them to hang out while having movie parties that filled the house with teens. She loved her many kids, school and 4-H, and was known to give tight hugs, long talks, or even stern lectures to whomever was in need. She was known to always feed anyone who needed and often had requests to bring her potato salad, german chocolate cake, sheet cake, and baked beans to pot lucks. She was a servant in every way as she was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Sunday School teacher, VBS coordinator, and member of the Ladies Aide. She was a longtime 4-H leader, having been the organization leader of the Grover Guys and Gals 4-H, member of the Weld County Fair Board, cake decorating project leader, and fair superintendent. She also judged cake decorating at several county fairs around the state as talking and spending time with youth was her passion, by sharing her knowledge, warm smile, and encouragement.
She is survived by her son Eric & Bobbi Hoffman of Grover, her daughter Amy & Bryan Hogsett of Eaton, and her four grandchildren Shelby and Jonathan Hoffman of Grover, Emily and Devin Hogsett of Eaton. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Bill Hoffman in 2022, her parents Edward and Louise Hahn, and her brothers Leroy and Eugene Hahn.
