Born in Pitkin, Colorado, he was the son of the late John Gilbert and Katie Mora.
Gilbert had a combined 36 years of active duty and civil service to the US Army, retiring in 1988 from the Pueblo Army Depot. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was active in giving back to his community and church through various activities.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Alice E. Mora, and son, John (Tara), grandchildren Aric, Jenna, Jessica, and Kelli. Brothers, Rufino (Pat), Robert Mora, and sister Debra (Juan) Espinosa. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Barbara Pickrum, Rebecca Cline, and Rita Leahy.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Imperial Memorial Gardens in Pueblo, Colorado.
