Goldie Bottrell, 93, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021, at Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Goldie was born on April 4th, 1928, in Parks, Nebraska to Andrew and Marie Smith. She was the fifth of their 11 children.
Goldie married Glenn Bottrell on April 25th, 1945, in Ogallala, Nebraska. Together, Glenn and Goldie had six children.
Throughout her life, Goldie owned The Diner in Ault and the Wagon Wheel in Eaton. Her most treasured job was working at the cleaners in Eaton where she worked until she was 80 years old. She loved spending time with her children, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Goldie enjoyed outings to Black Hawk with her friends and drawing paper dolls for her granddaughters. She never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune, and The Price is Right.
Goldie is survived by her six children, Glenn Bottrell, Ronnie Bottrell, Mike Bottrell (Diane), Sandie Smith, Bobbie Kuhn (John) and Tammy Stolz (John). Goldie is also survived by 13 of her 14 grandchildren: Wendy Bottrell (Mac), Ricky Bottrell, Kimberly Meyer (Zach), Krissy Johnson (Tom), Andy Bottrell, Kevin Bottrell, Steve “Rus” Smith (Kim), Shelli Stewart (Eric), Jamie Weeks (Matt), Chad Kuhn (Erin), Josh Gonzales, Brandy Stolz and Chase Stolz (Shannon). Goldie had 22 great grandchildren: Jaydan Bottrell, Brendan Bottrell, Allissa May Britten, Jordan Golden (Veronica), Tyler Golden, Rileigh Meyers, Megan Golden, Taylor Ashley (Bryan), Brendan Johnson, Emily Johnson, Carsen Kindschuh (Kale), Ethan Smith, Braeden Stewart, Brock Stewart, Braxden Stewart, Angel Stewart, Hailee Weeks, Ellie Kuhn, William Kuhn, Aaliyah Aldava, Josh Gonzales, Jr. and Casper Stolz. Goldie was also blessed with five great great grandchildren: Blakelyn Golden, Grace Rexus, Marcella Verdugo, Jasper Johnson and Salem Gonzales. Goldie also is survived by a very special friend of the family, Steven Hart (Linda) and their daughter, Stephanie Thompson (Jesse) and their children Kaylee and Alexa.
Goldie is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Glenn Bottrell who passed in 1995; her parents, Andrew and Marie Smith; a son-in-law, Steve Smith; a daughter-in-law, Sue Bottrell; a granddaughter, Brenda Bottrell; and her 10 siblings, Mildred, Robert, Rosetta, Donald, Sidney, Norma, Lois, Lawrence, Audrey and Melvin. Goldie was the last of her parents’ 11 children to pass on.
Services will be Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at Allnutt Funeral Home, 6521 W. 20th Street in Greeley, Colorado. A gathering of family and friends will take place immediately after the service at the Allnut Funeral Home’s Celebration of Life Center. Cremation has taken place and Goldie will be reunited with her husband, Glenn, at Eaton Cemetery in Eaton, Colorado.
