

Gregory John Schneiders, 54, of Loveland passed away after a valiant fight against cancer on February 2, 2016. Greg was born on October 14, 1961 in Sioux City, Iowa to James and Dolores (Walters) Schneiders. He graduated from North High School and attended Morningside College in Sioux City, graduating with a Bachelor in Science degree. Greg worked at a family owned Economy Market through his high school and college years, then started working for the Siouxland YMCA as the Youth Sports Director teaching kids how to play and love sports. It is also where he met Karen, his future wife. They relocated together to Colorado Springs in 1996. Greg and Karen Somheil were married on August 29, 1998 in Shieldsville, MN. In 1997, Greg became the site manager for the Eastside Boys & Girls Club in Pueblo, CO. In 2003, Greg began an Asset-Protection career with Walmart. After a short stint in Phoenix, they moved to Loveland where they finally settled down.
Greg was passionate about sports, but mainly his University of Iowa Hawkeyes. He played softball on the Anglers team in Ft. Collins, golf, and shooting. He was a history buff and enjoyed spending his time reading or out in his garden.
Greg is survived by his wife, Karen, of Loveland, CO; his aunt Patricia James (Aunt Pat) of Blaine, MN, brother Anthony (Debbie) Schneiders of Santee, CA, Julie (Rick Arias) Meyer of Cheyenne, WY, brother James (Donna) Schneiders of Kenai, AK, sister Chris (John) Trochlil of Ostego, MN, brother Michael (Lisa) Schneiders of Sioux City, IA, his step-mother Carol Schneiders, numerous nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Hanna.
Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Riverside Park in Sioux City. In lieu of flowers, Greg’s family asks that you wear black and yellow (Go Hawkeyes!) and make memorial contributions to Pathways Hospice.
