Harold I. Edstrom, 89 of Greeley, passed away July 21, 2014 at home, after a long battle with lung and heart problems. He was born September 28, 1924 in Brighton, CO, to Edward Harold and Anne Marie (Mathisen) Edstrom. He married Evelyn Eichner on November 1, 1946 in Brighton, CO. Evelyn died on September 7, 1973. He married Linda Larson on September 28, 1974 in Commerce City, CO.
Harold graduated from Ft. Lupton High School.
Harold was a dairyman at heart. He started shipping milk at the age of 14. He had cattle his entire life. He also owned and operated Donut Haven in Greeley. He survived WWII in the infantry. He was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. He was honorably discharged as a staff Sergeant.
Harold became a Lutheran in 1946 so he could marry Evelyn Eichner.
Harold’s hobbies included taking care of calves, playing with his grandchildren, and collecting toy farm animals.
Harold was a quiet, gentle and strong man who loved his family, friends and animals. He loved baseball and Holsteins. He will be missed by many forever.
He is survived by his wife Linda Edstrom, Greeley, CO; sons Lane (Renate) Edstrom, Thornton, CO, Steven (Ashley) Edstrom, Kersey, CO and Gary (Alaina) Edstrom, Greeley, CO; daughters, Deb (Andy) Herasimtschuk, Timnath, CO, Dawndee (Loren) Schmunk, Evans, CO, Anne (Nick) Nesmith, Evans, CO and Brenda (Nick) Findell, La Salle, CO; sister, Evelyn (Melvin) Stoecklein, Brighton, CO; 15 grandchildren, Ericka Duncan, Ryan Edstrom, Denise Loveless, David Herasimtschuk, Lauren Herasimtschuk, Kayla Schmunk, Rylee Schmunk, Campbell Halloway, Braylon Edstrom, Regan Edstrom, Andrew Edstrom, Landree Edstrom, Porter Edstrom, Blake Edstrom, Henlee Findell and Noah Nesmith; great grandchildren, Morgan Duncan, Rhett Duncan, Ali Edstrom and Ava Edstrom.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn; daughter Cindee Gayle; infant son William Edward; brother Milton Edstrom; and his parents.
Visitation will be held from 4-8:00 P.M. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. Services will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
