

Hilda Helen Holz Smith, 98, of Fort Collins passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Lemay Health and Rehab. Hilda was born June 17, 1919 on a farm near Pickrell, Nebraska to Albert and Harmka Holz. She had four brothers and one sister. Hilda married Herbert Andrew Smith in 1939 after graduating from Beatrice Nebraska High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and a superb seamstress, gourmet cook, and entertainer. She loved fashion and dressed well. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, PEO, Faculty Woman and many bridge groups. A true friend to many, she delivered apple pies, cards and gifts to friends and family.
Herb and Hilda loved traveling the world together, exploring the Amazon, Egypt, Russia, China, Thailand and other destinations.
Hilda is survived by one brother, Willard; her children Sandra, Barry, and Cynthia; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at Allnutt, 650 W. Drake, Fort Collins, on Friday, March 23rd reception at 9:00am and service at 10:00am.
Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Hilda’s name to the Salvation Army, Alpha Center, or Serve 6.8.
