

Colorado native son Howard Lowell passed away February 20th at the Medical Center of the Rockies after suffering a heart attack. Howard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marlene Lowell. Howard was born in Denver, Colorado March 8, 1935 and grew up in Ft. Collins. He is a 1953 graduate of FCHS and both he and Marlene graduated from Colorado State University. Howard and Marlene were married in August of 1958 and are survived by their two sons. Michael Lowell and his wife Carlotta and their son Joshua. Scott Lowell and his wife Annie and their children; Elisa, Jorel, and Patton. Howard and Marlene also had two great grandchildren; Aaniya and Tramain Jr.
Howard and Marlene were active in the Fort Collins community all their lives and loved the city. Howard was a long-term member of the Valentine City Chorus and a member of the Hi-Country Harmony Quartet and loved singing with his friends in these organizations. Howard recently retired from his bi-weekly radio show on KRFC which was broadcast for many years called Musical Memories.
Howard’s professional working life included time as a Civil Engineer then moved on to Mountain Bell Telephone Company, and ended with his retirement as Director of Telecommunications at Colorado State University.
Howard was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and was active in the local Collins Masonic Lodge #19. Howard and Marlene were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Collins.
