Surrounded by the love of her family, Irene Lucile Migliore—beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend—passed away peacefully in Greeley, Colorado on July 2, 2025, at the age of 95.
Irene was born August 29, 1929, in Greeley to Brice and Jennie Swank. She grew up in agricultural communities across northern Colorado and the Western Slope, where her father worked as a farmer. She graduated from Loveland High School, then in 1948 married Garnett Miller, and the couple lived in Loveland before settling in Greeley. They raised three children together before parting ways. Irene later married Ben Migliore, and together they had two children.
Later in life, Irene built a career with State Farm Insurance.
A woman of grace and kindness, Irene was happy in the company of family. She found joy in reading and took pride in her summer garden. She never missed a birthday or Christmas, always sending heartfelt cards and a $20 bill, a tradition her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will fondly remember.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Brice and Jennie Swank; her brother, David Swank; her son, Steve Migliore; and daughter-in-law, Denise Miller, and grandson Kevin Miller.
Irene is survived by her brother Joe Swank (Cherryl) of Greeley and her children: Joann Ater (Stu) of Hansville, WA; Alan Miller of Greeley; Darlene Lancaster (Tom) of Greeley; Kay Migliore (Les Heiser) of Greeley; and daughter-in-law Michelle DiPaolo of Oreland, PA.
She was a devoted grandmother to Mindy Carr; Sean Ater; Lauren (Giorgi) Gonikishvili; Eric Miller; Michael, Marcus, and Jonathan (Jessica Nelson) Lancaster; Joe, Andrew, and Nicole Migliore; and a loving great-grandmother to Anna and Lucas Gonikishvili, Cate Carr, and Landon Lancaster.
Irene lived a life of kindness, caring, and quiet strength. Whether taking her granddaughter to the Ice Capades, cheering at a school play, or making sure a life jacket was just right, she was always present. Her steady support and thoughtful gestures—large and small—are woven into the fabric of her family’s memories.
A memorial service to celebrate Irene’s life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley. The viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Irene will be laid to rest at 2:30 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Her legacy lives on in the stories we share, the laughter we remember, and the love she instilled in each generation. She will be dearly missed.
