(Alberta) Jean Pink was born May 30th, 1928 to Richard and Prudence Power in Darlington, WI. After graduating from Darlington High, Jean earned her Bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition from Clarke College, Dubuque, IA. She later pursued graduate studies in Nutrition at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, CO.
On June 24, 1950 she married Paul Pink, of Newton, IA. They met while attending college in Dubuque, IA. After their marriage they taught school in Gruver, IA.
To their union thirteen children were born, eight sons: Michael (Lana), El Paso, TX; Larry, San Francisco, CA; Bob (deceased) (Penny), Pocatello, ID; Tom, Bainbridge Island, WA; Francis (Pam), Perth, Australia; Patrick, Denver, CO; John (Lauren), Denver, CO; David (Tyler), Humble, TX; and five daughters, Mary (Richard) Griess, Greeley, CO; Barbara (Randy) Revak, Greeley, CO; Kathleen (Glen) Wilson, Ft. Collins, CO; Laura (Stan) Baker, Ann Arbor, MI; and Julie, Denver, CO. She is survived by her brother, Richard Power of Princeton, NJ; 23 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; her parents; her son, Bob; and grandson, Ryan.
Jean was a gentle and strong woman who was passionate about her family and committed to helping others. From a faith based foundation and a life of example, Jean and Paul instilled in their children strong moral values, the value of education, a sound work ethic, and love of family and community. Jean routinely volunteered to tutor elementary school children; help at clothing and food banks and shelter programs; and support charitable and humane activities through her church. Jean was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Her faith was integrated into every part of her life.
Visitation will be held from 4-5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel with Rosary to follow beginning at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 2, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
