

A joyful reunion was imagined on October 25, 2015 when Joan Curtis Witmer passed from this life to the next and in God’s presence united with husband, William and son, Robert. Joan was born June 27,1927 in Wilcox, Arizona and grew up in Ketchum, Oklahoma. She attended business school in Tulsa, OK and worked for the Navy Department in Washington, DC before meeting William Kern Witmer and marrying him November 17, 1950. Together they had 4 children: twins Diane and Joanne, Marianne and Robert (who passed away in 1990). She was also preceded in death by her husband in 1987. Joan enjoyed cats, reading, gardening and cooking. She was devoted to God, her family and her friends from homes in New Jersey, Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK. She had moved to Fort Collins, CO in 2009 and most recently lived at MacKenzie Place where she enjoyed a spectacular mountain view from her third floor apartment. She leaves behind daughter, Diane Anderson and grandsons, Jericho Cummings and Shea Anderson of Denver, CO; daughter Joanne (Hunter) Harms and grandson, Sean Contreras of Fort Collins, CO and granddaughter Rebecca Contreras of Oklahoma City, OK, daughter, Marianne Cressy (John) of Gilsum, New Hampshire and granddaughters, Lori Mathis of Boston, Massachusetts, Leanne Mathis of Keene, New Hampshire and Kennedy Mathis of Concord, New Hampshire; and granddaughter, Jasmine Witmer-Byron of Lincolnshire, England. In addition she leaves behind 3 precious great granddaughters and was anticipating the birth of a great grandson in December, 2015. At Joan’s request, her remains will join her husband’s in Tulsa, OK and a memorial service is planned for Spring, 2016. “I shall remember you for as long as there are earth and sky.
