Kirsten Elaine Winn, 47, passed away peacefully in Loveland, Colorado. Kirsten was born in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on December 4, 1969 to Louis Sumner Winn and Jean Morris Winn. She grew up in Chapel Hill and moved to Northern California in 1984.
She went to various schools and studied medicine. She had a passion for learning and had a hard time committing to just one subject, receiving three associates degrees. In 2003, Kirsten moved with her mother to Colorado. In 2008, Kirsten married Daniel Gonzales, and she gave birth to her son, Ian Sumner Winn, in 2009. Though Kirsten and Daniel divorced soon after, Ian was Kirsten’s world. She was a very devoted and loving mother.
Kirsten was one of the first Gastric Bypass patients, and had chronic complications for years to come. She never let this stand in her way for loving life and lending a helping hand. Kirsten had a special affection for the elderly and was always available for her neighbors whether it was fixing things or solving puzzles.
Kirsten is survived by her mother, Jean Morris of Ft. Collins, CO, sister Susan (Kevin) Bindel of Ft. Collins, CO, sister Karen (Steve Merril) Winn, of California, numerous nieces and nephews, and her two cats, Serengeti and Apache. She is preceded in death by her father, L. Sumner Winn, aunt M. Gwen Morris, and lots and lots of beloved cats and dogs.
It was Kirsten’s wish to be cremated, and hopes people will cherish wonderful memories of her instead of the sad times. “I love you to the moon and back.”
