

LaVerne Pauline Hamilton, 81, of Greeley, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at North Colorado Medical Center, Hospice unit. LaVerne was born on July 21, 1932 in Greeley to Jake and Pauline (Bauer) Krieger.
LaVerne was raised and reared in the Orchard/Wiggins area. She graduated from Wiggins High School. On November 6, 1960, she married John Hamilton. They were members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the Greeley/Evans Moose Lodge #909. LaVerne was very active at the Moose Lodge and held every chair during her membership.
LaVerne was a skilled seamstress; she did alterations for Freeman’s Cleaners and NuWay Cleaners in Greeley. LaVerne enjoyed cooking, camping, bingo, and she especially enjoyed her weekly gatherings with friends to play cards or go bowling. LaVerne’s grandchildren were the love of her life.
LaVerne is survived by her husband, John; three daughters, Deb Jara of Loveland, Diane Flagle of Greeley and Paula Johnson (Steve) of Greeley; one son, Steve Hamilton of Sharon Springs, Kansas; brother, Clarence Krieger of Greeley; sister-in-law, Carol Walker of Greeley; two brothers-in-law, Don Hamilton (Teresa) of Evans and Jack Hamilton (Betty) of Hugo, Colorado; eight grandchildren, Timothy Brant, Curtis Brant, Jeramy Mora, Melinda McDaniel, Daniel Westfall, Jonathon Lamb, Leslie Johnson and Lauren Johnson; ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Interment 1:30 p.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
