Maria Venegas Guzman

Maria Venegas Guzmán, 90 of Pierce, CO, passed away May 17, 2017 at her home. Maria was born June 19, 1926 in Ciudad Allende, Coahuila, Mexico to Pablo and Nicanora (Herrera) Venegas. On January 6, 1951 she married Silvestre V. Guzmán in Ciudad Allende, Coahuila, Mexico.

Silvestre took Maria home to Racine, Wisconsin. In 1954 they moved to Pierce, Colorado where Maria was a true homemaker. She was a wonderful cook and loved to garden.

Maria is survived by her children, Tony Guzmán , Denver, Gloria Guzmán Rodriguez (Adolph), Windsor, David Guzmán (Shelley), Pierce, Stella Guzmán-Rodriguez, Greeley, Raimundo Guzmán (Maria), Ault, and Lupe Guzmán Alpizar (Edgar) Racine, WI; 16 Grandchildren; 32 Great-grandchildren; 3 Great-great grandchildren; Sisters, Delores DeHerra, Paula (Raul) Aguilera, Ciudad Allende, Coahuila, Mexico, Felecita (Frank) Bargas, Pierce; brother, Jose Luis Venegas, Ciudad Allende, Coahuila, Mexico; brother in law, Ricardo (Juana) Guzmán, Bullhead, AZ; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Silvestre V. Guzmán; infant son, Rudy Guzmán; and sisters Agapita Segura and Juana Durán.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday, May 21, 2017, at the Allnutt Macy Chapel, with a Rosary to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, May 22, 2017 at St. Mary’s Church in Ault, CO with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment at the Eaton Cemetery.
